Yakima County ICC Valuation Update

Yakima County is proposing an update that could affect applicable building permit and plan review fees beginning October 1, 2026. Members are encouraged to attend the Board of Yakima County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m. to learn what the change could mean for upcoming projects.

The County currently calculates applicable fees using the August 2015 ICC Building Valuation Data. Under the proposal, permit applications submitted on or after October 1 would use the February 2026 valuations. Customers preparing projects may wish to submit applications before October 1 to have applicable fees calculated using the current valuation basis.

The 15-minute presentation will explain the proposed update, its effect on applicable fees, and the County’s need to maintain timely permitting, plan review, and inspection services. The update is outlined in Ordinance 4-2021, adopted May 4, 2021, and does not require a new ordinance.

Builders, contractors, developers, design professionals, and other industry stakeholders may attend in person at the BOCC Basement Conference Room, Room 33B, 128 N. 2nd Street in Yakima, or participate virtually through Zoom.
