Description

The primary responsibility of a project manager is to get the project built on time and on budget while leaving the customer with a smile on their face. To accomplish those goals, a residential construction project manager, for example, will need to plan and manage the construction of homes, apartment complexes or duplexes, which requires rigorous training in leadership and project planning. Learn from industry experts to effectively plan, execute, and deliver successful projects. By applying the concepts and strategies of this course, project managers will increase their professional value and thus bring value to the company and to the customer. The course explains the role of project managers during each phase of a project, including the pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases. Project management tools and effective management of trade contractors will also be discussed. As a graduate of this course, participants will be able to: - Explain the basics of successful project management and the project life cycle - Execute the pre-construction project management and project scheduling functions and responsibilities - Implement the tools available for efficient project management - Manage trade contractors effectively - Perform project management duties during the project - Complete the duties and responsibilities of post-project management


Meet Your Instructor: Andy Arrants

BIAW Education and Audio Visual (AV) Manager

With over three years of valuable experience at the Kitsap Building Association as Membership and Communications Director, Andy Arrants joined the Building Industry Association of Washington as digital production manager in January 2021. His transition to the Education Manager position in the spring of 2022 was a natural progression, given his comprehensive understanding of the industry. Andy now oversees all aspects of the award-winning Education Department at BIAW, demonstrating his competence in teaching, scheduling classes, and managing accounts payable and receivable. Having instructed a variety of subjects for over a decade, Andy is now a licensed National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Instructor and has started teaching classes for BIAW, including Certified Aging-in-Place, Project Management, Construction Law, and others. He is excited about the prospect of introducing and teaching many more courses in the building industry over the next few months, which is sure to pique the interest of the audience. Andy and his wife, Sabrina, live in Lacey, Washington. In his free time, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife and cockapoo Daisy, and leading worship music at his church, which he finds to be a great balance to his professional life.
