Washington Wildfire Support Resources

Emergency assistance is available for affected households, tribes, local governments, and community organizations.

Severe wildfires continue to affect families, homes, businesses, and communities across Washington. CWHBA is connecting members and community partners with resources for immediate needs and long-term recovery.

Help for affected households

Households that qualified for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program during the current program year and live in an impacted county may be eligible for assistance through a local Community Action Agency. Available help may include:

  • Energy and utility bills
  • Temporary shelter or shelter vouchers
  • Transportation, food, and other emergency needs
  • Air purifiers in counties covered by the wildfire State of Emergency
  • Weatherization and home repairs

Agencies serving Central Washington include:

  • Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council: Chelan and Douglas counties; 509-662-6156

  • Opportunities Industrialization Center of Washington: Adams, Grant, and northern Yakima County; 509-248-6751

Support for tribes

Commerce is offering tribal governments access to recovery resources, including the Emergency Rapid Response Grants Program and Tribal Climate Resilience Grant Program. Tribal representatives may contact Tribal.Relations@Commerce.wa.gov for assistance identifying available programs.

Funding for communities

Commerce has announced recovery funding for eligible tribal and local governments, including:

  • More than $1 million in Emergency Rapid Response Grants to restore essential community services such as food, water, sewer, power, transportation, communications, and shelter
  • $2.1 million for emergency repairs or replacement of wildfire-damaged broadband infrastructure
  • $7.1 million for eligible local governments to repair essential roads, bridges, water systems, sewer systems, stormwater systems, and other qualifying infrastructure
