Preparing for Washington Saves: What Employers Need to Know

Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (9:00 AM - 10:30 AM) (PDT)

Description

Join the YCDA for a virtual employer roundtable to learn about Washington Saves, a new state-facilitated retirement savings program scheduled to open in July 2027.

Under state law, certain employers that do not offer a qualified retirement plan will be required to facilitate employee access to Washington Saves. Individuals who work for a non-mandated employer or who are self-employed will also have the option to enroll independently.

Washington Saves is designed to be simple for employers and employees. Employers will have no program fees, required contributions, or financial liability. Once a business registers, participating employees can build long-term financial security through automatic payroll contributions to an individual retirement account (IRA). Investments will be professionally managed by a private financial firm with oversight from a public Governing Board.

Presenter: Heidi Iyall - Communications Consultant, Washington Saves

During this virtual roundtable, participants will:

  • Learn how Washington Saves will work
  • Understand employer eligibility and anticipated compliance requirements
  • Learn about key program design features
  • Explore ways to stay connected as the program develops
  • Hear about opportunities to participate in a pilot program in early 2027
  • Have an opportunity to ask questions

Who Should Attend:
