In response to updated Washington State workplace safety regulations taking effect in 2025, this training session—led by Craig Hall, Risk and Safety Consultant at BBSI—will equip employers with the knowledge and tools needed to protect outdoor workers from wildfire smoke and heat-related illnesses.

This comprehensive presentation will cover the development and implementation of response plans, employee training requirements, and key compliance strategies.

Key Topics Covered:

Wildfire Smoke Response Plan (WSRP):

• Understanding the health risks of wildfire smoke exposure.
• Monitoring air quality levels and identifying action thresholds.
• Providing appropriate respiratory protection (e.g., N95 masks) when required.
• Creating and maintaining a two-way communication system that allows employees to report hazards without fear of reprisal.

Training employees on wildfire smoke safety protocols.

Heat-Related Illness Prevention:

• Recognizing symptoms and risks of heat-related illnesses.
• Providing shaded rest areas, cool drinking water, and paid cool-down rest breaks once temperatures reach 80°F.
